Firstly, best wishes to all my friends and readers out there… 2004 has been great fun, and 2005 is going to shatter any notions of “free time” as I work on my own business, TextDrive, TextThing, Bandography and a swag of other smaller projects (and some big stuff I can’t talk about yet).
I made my first post 149 days ago, and looking back at that post, I’m amazed that I found something to write about every 3 days or so, and even more amazed that so many people have bothered to read and subscribe to the feeds. Speaking of which, NetNewsWire is the most popular User Agent according to my Urchin stats, which still surprises me.
Without getting too scientific, the one post that seemed to triple my readership overnight was Email Aliases in Apple Mail... Merlin linked to me with a few kind words, and then everyone else did too.
And now, a little complaint. Why do clients and project managers insist that everything has to be done before Christmas? And even if “before Christmas” is in fact a logical deadline, why do they choose to start the project a few days before?
Needless to say it’s been a busy month, and it’s not over yet.
It’s for this reason and many more that TextThing is still vapourware – I know I speculated the thing would be out in Beta this month (December), but it’s just not going to happen. But don’t get discouraged—to those of you who’ve helped out with comments and feedback, and to the hundreds of you who have signed up for beta testing, thank you – it’s encouraging to see so many people get behind an idea so fanatically.
So, thanks for the ride so far, and strap yourself in for next year! I’ll be attempting to take some time off between now and January 10th, so posting will be somewhere between “light” and “none” for a while.
Now, back to work… I still have two websites, an order form, a CD cover and a CMS to finish 30 hours, as well as moving two sites from my old host to TextDrive. Fun!
Before you go…
