May 1st Reboot

Since 1996 (2nd year of my Ba. Graphic Design degree) I’ve been working as a freelance Graphic Designer and Web Application Developer, trading as both Justin French and Indent.com.au.

It’s been a great ride, I’ve made decent money and I’ve worked on some really nice projects with some great clients, but from May 1st, I’ll be working “full time” for TextDrive. I’m not giving up on my freelance or closing down —because I’ve got more work offers than ever before— but I’ve basically been handed the opportunity of a life time with TextDrive, and I’d be stupid not to take it and see where we end up.

I get to work full time, from home, with a regular income (the only thing I ever hated about freelance was the irregular pay), with some of the smartest people I know, on a couple of web applications that will be the highlight of my career thus far.

On top of all that they’re happy for me to continue freelancing on the side, working on my open source project and my own business ideas (of which I have far too many).

To say that I’m excited about the next few months (and the rest of my working days right now) is an understatement.

I’m also moving house this weekend, and due to the awfully convoluted practices of the Australian telecommunications industry, I’ll be back to dial-up internet for a week or two, so don’t expect much action on this site, or a prompt reply to emails until I’m back on ADSL!
